Well Wish

Well Wish

She tossed a coin into the well, feeling foolish. Then she sat on the edge and covered her face with her hands.

Something tapped her on the shoulder.

She yelped and scrambled back. A tentacle waved at her. It pressed a moist coin into her hands, then vanished back down the well.

Heart pounding, she ran to the well’s edge. ‘Hello?’

The tentacle popped up again. Tentatively, she reached out to it. It curled around her hand affectionately.

She couldn’t help but smile.
